The patients support team prescribed the drug to the patient, provided them with instructions on how to use it and the importance of the adherence to the therapeutic protocol. They also communicated with the patients and learnt about their problems and concerns.
The Team were:
- Enas Saad
- Malaz Kamel
- Shahed Ahmed
- Randa El-Zein
- Razaz Mahdi
Dr. Salah Abd El Raziq a paediatric surgeon was present and was quite impressed by the activities provided by the Patient Support Team.
The MRC is the only center that provides specialized care for these patients, unfortunately almost all patients are of a low socioeconomic state and from remote or rural area, and it is very difficult for them to keep it up with their follow-up visits and the costs of investigations and medications or surgery,
hence their response to treatment and cure is delayed or unsatisfactory.
With all this most of the patients live with the idea and fear of losing ones’ leg or hand, not to mention living in a society that barely understands their condition and they me be subject to stigma or neglect with these medical, economic, and social problems our patients living.
